Thursday 8th

Hello Everybody:
Remember to keep this window open to optimize time.
Let’s start with some listening. Go to:
http://www.elllo.org/english/0951/T988-George-BreakUp.htm

And HIDE THE TEXT to start with. Listen and show the text the second time if you need to. If you don’t, then answer the questions straight away.
Let’s practice some collocations (combinations of word that occur with a higher frequency)
Go to:

http://www.oup.com/elt/global/products/americanheadway/ahy_games_home/#

Click on level 2 for MARBLES. This is like memory. You click on a word and you need to find the partner (and memorize it) to find the combinations. Good luck!
Shall we practice some grammar?
Go to:

http://www.oup.com/elt/global/products/americanheadway/ahy_level2_home/ahy_level2_u04_01/
And choose the correct answer.
Let’s listen again. Go to:

http://www.esl-lab.com/elem/elemrd1.htm#pre

And choose the correct alternative.
Go to:

http://www2.cambridge.org/interchangearcade/launch.do?activityID=365&level=3&unit=1&type=Cup_drag_and_drop&stage=1

And do the activity.
Go to:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/apps/ifl/worldservice/quiznet/quizengine?
ContentType=text/html;quiz=1238_like

Use of “like”

And choose the correct answer.
Let’s check some vocabulary.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/learningenglish/flash/wordmaster/
You can play something else on this website, or do a different activity or go to:

http://www.santiagotimes.cl/santiagotimes/index.php/2009092017157/news/cultural-news/index.php

And check the news for tomorrow.

Do not forget to post your comments on this blog.
Bye.

  1. I always love this lab sessions, because everytime you learn something different, and you find new brilliant web sites to practice by yourself as well.

The most lovely activity that I did today was the one called "Wordmaster", you can learn new words, you have the definitions and also the pronounciation in context of those words.

The listening from ESL was sort of difficult, I mean it was like a chinese little boy talking about his first day at school with his very weird voice.

    Regards.

  3. I agree with Camilo. I love the lab sessions.

The most difficult exercise was the second one called Marbles. I tried to do my best.

The easiest one was the listening about break up. I put in practice what Miss Andrea is always saying about the key words.

  5. first of all, I would like to say that this kind of exercises are really usefull to improve our skills and develop them, I mean, skills such as writting, listening, etc. However, related to the exercises, for me was a little difficult to listen to the little boy who went to the school, his voice was really weird, despite that were a fun activities to do, i'd to suggest some exercise but I don't know what could be, Anyway, it was a great lab session.

    Regards.!

  6. Hello Miss:
This activities are very enjoyables. The Marbles and vocabulary activities are the best because I tried to remember every convination of words and tried to remember words that I use a little. I have some problems in the "use of like" activity specially in question number 2, 3 and 5 ("What is the best question"), but I tried to do some excercises in home to improve this topic. I enjoy every listen activities and was interesting. I have some vocabulary problems but I resolved it, searching in "Word Reference". I'll do some extra like excercises to improve.
    Thanks for the activities. Regards.

  7. I really enjoyed this class. Actually, I've always thought the lab sessions are very usefull for us, because the pages you visit are recommended by a teacher who knows what kind of activities are for you (level, topic, etc).
In my opinion, the listening part was very basic. People talk slow and clear.
I really loves the final part, I mean, the Wordmaster, because you learn the words in context (As Camilo already said) and you can apply your knowledge in a fun way.

PD: The girl of the first listening, spoke weird because she was Asian or something like that.

PD2: Maybe we could visit the computer lab for frecuently.

  8. The listening activities today were pretty awesome, I mean, the conversation of the girl who talked to the guy was very useful because it was a real conversation which we can learn differents kinds of expression such as "rip the band-aid", and the little boy interview was so cute , I loved his voice, but sometimes I could not understand him.
The most difficult activity for me was "wordmaster". I think we need improve our vocabulary to do that kind of activities. Anyway, I learnt a lot of new vocabulary with that game.
    =)

  9. Hi
Definitely the WODMASTERs game was the most challenging of all (to me). I really liked the listening activity because it was more "natural speaking" than the extremely (sometimes) politely examples in the Touchstone. I don't know what else to add. To me it was a complete lab session class. (listening, writing...) and think quickly to find the words!!!
    That's all.

    Felipe, you won :(

  10. I like to work in this kind of website because you can learn different thing like grammar, listening , or improve our vocabulary.
the last activity about the vocabulary , if you ask me is the best , for I can know word that never in my life I see.
The japanese boy was the most difficult part because I couldn`t understand him all that he said , however it`s a good activity to listen a native people.
    best regards

  11. Hello Miss
In these activities I learn new words. I think it's a good idea to do these exercise and it's very fun to lear playing. In this opportunity, I can do all the exercise, so I am extremely happy =), but I still need to practice more.
I can see different topic that is necesary to remember. I still confuse "much" and "many", but I can lear it in this opportunity.

    See you
    Yaela.
