Thursday 8th

Hello Everybody:
Remember to keep this window open to optimize time.
Let’s start with some listening. Go to:
http://www.elllo.org/english/0951/T988-George-BreakUp.htm

And HIDE THE TEXT to start with. Listen and show the text the second time if you need to. If you don’t, then answer the questions straight away.
Let’s practice some collocations (combinations of word that occur with a higher frequency)
Go to:

http://www.oup.com/elt/global/products/americanheadway/ahy_games_home/#

Click on level 2 for MARBLES. This is like memory. You click on a word and you need to find the partner (and memorize it) to find the combinations. Good luck!
Shall we practice some grammar?
Go to:

http://www.oup.com/elt/global/products/americanheadway/ahy_level2_home/ahy_level2_u04_01/
And choose the correct answer.
Let’s listen again. Go to:

http://www.esl-lab.com/elem/elemrd1.htm#pre

And choose the correct alternative.
Go to:

http://www2.cambridge.org/interchangearcade/launch.do?activityID=365&level=3&unit=1&type=Cup_drag_and_drop&stage=1

And do the activity.
Go to:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/apps/ifl/worldservice/quiznet/quizengine?
ContentType=text/html;quiz=1238_like

Use of “like”

And choose the correct answer.
Let’s check some vocabulary.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/learningenglish/flash/wordmaster/
You can play something else on this website, or do a different activity or go to:

http://www.santiagotimes.cl/santiagotimes/index.php/2009092017157/news/cultural-news/index.php

And check the news for tomorrow.

Great site

There aren't many good websites dedicated to learning English that are free of charge. In my opinion, the BBC is a the best.

Go to:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/learningenglish/

Take a look around, then tell me what you think. Some specials:
"beat the keeper","flatmates", the teacher, among others.
Write a comment telling me which activities you visited, found more useful and if there is anything you didn't like. I'd also appreciate comments on other English learning sites you find good .

(minimum 60 word comment with YOUR name on it)

You are going to hear the conversation and pause it after each exchange. Repeat. Try to imitate the pronunciation and intonation. Do not feel embarrassed. We are all here to learn!
Click on:
http://www.oup.com/elt/global/products/headway/int/f_everydayenglish/hwy_int_dialogue06/

http://www.oup.com/elt/global/products/headway/elementary/a_grammar/

Go to:

Go back to Unit 6 and select “What….like?” Do the activity. Remember to raise your hand if you have any questions.

Click on Headway pre -intermediate. Click on Grammar . Select Unit 6 and choose comparatives. Do the activity.

Go to unit 7 and do the activities on present perfect and for and Since.

Go to “Marble” (bolitas) game. This game is aimed at practicing collocations. Collocations are combination of words that occur with higher frequency. E.g. Keep a secret, tell a story.

The idea is to click on time, press phrases (above) and then memorize where each word is, so you can put each marble with the corresponding partner.

Click on Headway pre -intermediate. Click on Grammar . Select Unit 6 and choose comparatives. Do the activity.
GO BACK TO:

http://www.oup.com/elt/global/products/headway/elementary/ Click on Test builder on the right hand side. Choose a minimum of 4 sections (ideally from the topics and grammar seen so far this semester) Take the test. Register results to tell me the topic you chose and the results you got.

For those who have extra time, visit: www.guinnessworldrecord.com and find out about crazy stuff like:
