Great site

There aren't many good websites dedicated to learning English that are free of charge. In my opinion, the BBC is a the best.

Go to:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/learningenglish/

Take a look around, then tell me what you think. Some specials:
"beat the keeper","flatmates", the teacher, among others.
Write a comment telling me which activities you visited, found more useful and if there is anything you didn't like. I'd also appreciate comments on other English learning sites you find good .

(minimum 60 word comment with YOUR name on it)

  1. Hi there!

I knew some phrasal verbs before, but I got complety mad with those games! Jahjah! Especially with "New words of Expresions". I will have to google some of those weird expressions like "naff off and leave me alone" -well, maybe I'll have to looked for them all after all.
I think phrasal verbs are funiest when they are in context for we tend to leart them better this way.

By the way, today's games were pretty much excellent!!

I played "beat the keeper", and it was really funny, There were a lot of new vocabulary that I'm trying to learn because is a little bit difficult memorize them due to they aren't "obvious", or something like that. For example I had no idea that a draw in a soccer match also could be named "tie". It's an ineteresting page, and the games are very challenging.

  3. First, I would like to tell you that I felt the same last night. We can still make it.
The site was helpful, specially the wordmaster game, because it shows you the use of some words in context. So, I learned when I have to use those in conversation.
The football games weren't so good to me, I'm not good playing that kind of games actually. I prefer the online quizzes like the ones we saw the last time we came to the lab.
I have my own blog !

  4. Hello! , First of all, I visited the website where there were the games you posted on your blog (Beat the keeper). I played the game of the teacher in the whiteboard, the bussines expressions and adjectives and adverbs. After that, I saw the video "the flatmates" (It was very british hahaha) ..
Then, I started to see some videos about pronunciation tips (from the BBC), it was very good, I really liked it.
Finally I saw the videos from 1 to 8 about Diphtongs (double vowel sounds) and that's it..
See you on Monday and have a good weekend.

  6. Well, I didn't try to find another English learning sites, but that's because I was really interested in learning some new expressions and more vocabulary with the games. It was also very fun to do it. The quizz I enjoyed was the WORDMASTER game. To use the clues when you were stuck (to find the word you're looking for) it was useful to understand the meaning of each word. So, I get a grat time (talking in spanish sometime...)and y learnt a few words and the meaning of each one.

    Very good site.

  8. This activity was so fun and I liked it, because we realized that we can learn in a funny way and not always with quizzes. I wasn’t good with the phrasal verbs, so I need to study it more. The easiest game was one of adverbs and adjectives with a clown in a circus.

  9. It seems to me this was a great class, because I learnt some words and expresson on the website, and also I played some games to improve my knowledge.
I was reading and listening a conversation for then write down the meaning of words and expressions. Well, I played the Wordmaster to improve my speed of reaction and also I think that with this game I could improve my writing and speaking skills, but I had a duel with Genaro and Victor, in this way we can participate and do the exercise in a different way. finally, I was playing the soccer game to get more words and to improve.

    Greetings.

  10. Hi miss:
well, the activities that I visited were: "Beat the keeper","Flatmates","Pronunciation tips: pronounce the sounds, Learn about pronunciation, and then the pronunciation quizzes (all of them).
However, I must say that Beat the keeper and pronounciation tips were my favourite ones.
I could learn some phrasal verbs in a funny way but I also could improve my pronunciation.
    bye

  12. I think that this activity is funny and I can improve my english with new word that I never see before. The most important is it a challenge with myself and with this can see that if I study or I need more practice. In conclusion I like this webpage because this is a good practice my english and of course is funny too.
    best regards

  13. This activity was fun, but a little bit repetitive. I think that the games are a good way for learn, because you hve fun and vocabulary in the same time. Also, I visited the crossword whit a lot of topys. I chose Jane's Austen Crossword, but I wasn't lucky. Finally, I played in Wordmaster. In thus place you have to guess the unknown word and you had 1 minute to guess it. You have the possibility of asking for the definition of the word, but you will discount thirty seconds approximately.

    Try you too.

  15. To be honest, I didn't use too much the page that you gave us. At the beginning, I got bored playing "beat the keeper". Nevertheless, after that I found some pronunciation tips videos very helpful. Then, I watched a couple of videos of "The Flatmates". I think those videos were pretty useful, because I could get new expressions and learn new vocabulary. They also helped me to improve pronunciation as a result of imitate how they spoke.

In the end, I found a lot of videos that can help me to study at home and improve my English (pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, expressions, etc.)

  16. Hello teacher! The class was really interesting and entertained, because I could listened to and learned a lot of words that I didn't know.
I visited "flatmates". The play was good, but when I started to play it become difficult for me. The video was excellent, really fantastic. I felt very pleased for I could practice one of the most difficult parts for me.
I hope to see you soon.
    Warm regards
